Charitable nonprofits, like the Giving Center, embody the best of America. They provide a way for communities to come together for the common good, making shared beliefs and hopes into action. They give life to our boldest dreams, highest ideals, and noblest causes.

The 1.3 million charitable nonprofits in America feed, heal, shelter, educate, inspire, enlighten, and nurture people of all ages, gender, race, and socioeconomic status, from east coast to west coast, border to border, and beyond. Charitable nonprofits promote civic engagement and leadership, drive economic growth, and strengthen our communities.

Every single person in the United States benefits from the efforts of nonprofits in one way or another, whether they realize it or not.

It is very easy to see a nonprofit’s mission in action when our families or neighbors are direct beneficiaries — such as when charitable nonprofits provide food for the hungry, life-saving trauma care to an individual in a car wreck, or rescue relief to hurricane survivors.

It is harder to see the full impact of the indirect benefits nonprofits provide us. For example, Computers With Causes might be to promote education and technological literacy, but taxpayers also benefit when the nonprofit raises funds to buy computers and equipment. There are other causes to consider as well, such as Real Estate With Causes and Charity Boats, that would have similar impacts in the community.

Nonprofits play a very important role in creating a thriving community. And nonprofits can do even more by coming together to protect both their legacy and their indispensable role in the future of America.
